I’ll admit it, I’ve been sucked into the world of “Girls”, HBO’s new show chronicling the lives of 4 young women in their early 20′s trying to make it work in New York. This is no Gossip Girl or Sex and the City though: the 4 main characters reside in Brooklyn, live paycheck to paycheck, and are all searching for something to define them.

Creator/Director/Writer/Genius/and Star, Lena Dunham, doesn’t hold back when portraying the often awkward social and sexual experiences of these young women either. Between niave Shoshanna, free-spirit Jessa, type-A-personality Marnie, and quirky Hannah, you can’t help but identify with one or more not-so-proud moments they have.

As these character’s continue to develop their own identities, I can see how these young women will become tastemakers of style and comedy for a new generation of girls who appreciate a realistic portrayal of their own experiences.
